Tony Brooks - I will keep applying what I have learned throughout the programme..

 

 

So why did Tony want to take up our 12 week weight loss programme? Well, although he understood a great deal about healthy eating Tony felt there was always room for improvement and was keen to learn more. Plus Tony had 5kgs he wanted to lose as this would improve his exercise performance.  However, he was keen to remain energised and at the top of his game whilst losing weight. Also, Tony has a sweet tooth and he wanted to learn more about how to curb his cravings and keep himself feeling full and satisfied throughout the day and evening. 

This is what Tony had to say about his 12 week weight loss programme -

 

“The Healthy Employee Programme has been a very good experience;

  • I have lost 5kgs
  • Dropped to a 34” waist
  • Dropped to 14% body fat when measured using the calliper’s
  • My sleep has improved
  • I have more energy in the afternoon
  • I experience much less of an energy drop when training for over an hour and do not need to top up with sweet quick fix gels, chocolates, cakes or other high sugar, high fat snacks to keep myself going
  • My running has improved
  • I am much more aware of what I eat and this is reflected in my day to day diet
  • I understand the need to plan my food as much as possible to avoid getting very hungry and eating whatever is available, often to my detriment in the form of sudden fatigue and the need to eat sweet stuff – all of that has stopped now
  • I am much more aware of how much I should be eating and portion sizes (most of the time)
  • I am aware of my bad habits of afternoon/evening grazing when I’m bored, tired want to be distracted or I’m in the kitchen!
  • I enjoyed our Friday chats and the opportunity to figure out why I had strayed from the righteous path of good nutrition

I will keep applying what I have learned throughout the programme and endeavour to control my bad habits. Hopefully I will soon get below 80Kg’s and ideally less than 78. A couple of times this week the scales where at 80.2!”

 

A wake up call to plan properly

A week or so after Tony had completed his 12 week programme he sent us an email with his case study information plus a couple of lines about the need to plan ahead. We wanted to include this because we felt that many people would be interested to read about the need to adopt new habits to ensure the continuation of healthy eating. Here it is –

“Monday – I just did not take enough food with me. Instead I relied on a bag of nuts and dried fruit to get me by in the afternoon. The knock on effect was that I really wanted something sweet, aka chocolate and ended up eating both milk and dark choc after my dinner of spatchcock chicken, shredded leeks and cabbage with boiled carrots, even though I was completely stuffed. It has been a while since I have done anything like this!  A bit of a wake-up call to remind me to plan properly.”
