Heart Healthy Food Substitutions

Maintaining heart health should be a priority for everyone. A healthy diet is vital to enable this, including complex carbohydrates, lean protein and healthy fat.

Making a few simple changes to your usual diet, without compromising your enjoyment of your favourite foods will help to ensure your heart health is taking priority with ease. 

 

 

Mayonnaise

  • Mashed avocado
  • Hummus
  • Low-fat natural yoghurt
  • Low- fat Greek yoghurt

Cheddar cheese

  • Feta
  • Emmental 

Salt

  • Herbs
  • Spices

Beef mince

  • Chicken mince
  • Turkey mince

Milk and white chocolate

  • Dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa)

Sour cream

  • Low-fat Greek yoghurt
  • Low-fat cottage cheese

White rice/bread/pasta

  • Whole meal and whole-wheat varieties
