National Growing for Wellbeing Week
Originally created by a wellbeing therapy organisation, National Growing for Wellbeing week runs from 1-7 June this year. This is a week to celebrate the magic of growing your own produce and the benefits that can come with doing so – both physical and mental.
Approximately 25% of adults experience ill mental health every year. Gardening has been shown to improve many areas of ill health, including confidence, self-belief, physical fitness, resilience, concentration and dexterity.
Whether you have the benefits of escaping into the great outdoors with an empty plot of space, or simply a sun-trapped windowsill ideal for growing herbs, garlic, chillis, microgreens and cherry tomatoes – there is always an opportunity to grow something from scratch no matter what your home set-up.
Growing your own produce can bring such a sense of joy and accomplishment, whether that’s a huge harvest of carrots or freshly picked herbs to top your salad with.
Use National Growing for Wellbeing Week to get planting to boost your health and wellbeing!
